Just venting, I guess

I have lived in public housing now for almost 3 yrs.  It saddens me to see how little these low income folks have as far as activities go.  They just hide away in their apartments because they have little funds and most don't own a car.  The facility we live in offers no activities.  Just a few folks get together one night a week to play penny bingo. And to cut down on the expense they bring grab bag gifts or trinkets they no longer want so they pass them along to the others who really don't want them or need them.  Most can't afford Cable.  Almost all of them have worked so hard all their lives and mostly at menial low paying jobs.  In the last year five of them have passed on and it bothers me terribly to see the ones left behind with nothing more to do than wait for the mailman.  If only they could have some kind of fun before their turn arrives to leave this world.

Anyone  reading this who have any great ideas that don't cost anything please share them with us.

Blessing,

Grandma, Shirley

senior wanting to help other seniors

I live in a low income housing with 48 other seniors, some with disabilities.  Here we have no activities other than a weekly bingo.  I would like to know where and how I could get a grant to purchase some types of

items I know ( I took a poll) would bring folks out more from their apartments to enjoy some activities while they still have a chance.  Such as Arcade Machine, Dvd player, Juke box, Slot machine,(not for gambling, just for fun) Interactive TV games

Inside type activities as many don't go outside for different reasons.

Thanks for reading
